The director general of Israel's Health Ministry, Dr. Ronni Gamzu, has set his sights on the use of the Internet by the country's tobacco companies to advertise their products, according to a story by Judy Siegel-Itzkovich for the Jerusalem Post.
Israel has banned tobacco advertising through television and radio since 1983, but there are no restrictions on websites.
Gamzu said a special ministerial tobacco control committee he has established would, by the end of this year, issue a report with recommendations on new and stronger strategies to fight smoking.
