Ten concepts, namely "Time is Money, Efficiency is Life," "Lips Harm the Country, Hard Work Makes the Country Prosperous," "Dare for the World First," "Reform and Innovation are the Root and Soul of Shenzhen," "Let the City be Respected due to Its Love of Reading," "Encourage Innovation and be Tolerant of Failure," "Achieving the Cultural Rights of Citizens," "Helping Others for Enjoyment," "No Distance Between Shenzhen and the World," and "You are a Shenzhener Once You Come Here," were selected as the top 10 most influential concepts in Shenzhen on the morning of Nov. 8.
The activity, titled the "Top 10 Most Influential Concepts in Shenzhen," originated from a popular post on the Internet. A netizen published a post titled "Looking back on those inspiring slogans after living in Shenzhen for 18 years" on Aug. 1, 2010.
This post attracted wide attention from netizens. Therefore, the Shenzhen Press Group launched the "Top 10 Most Influential Concepts in Shenzhen" poll on Aug. 20 and this activity is also one of the activities for commemorating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone.
The top 10 concepts poll was promoted step by step along with the positive participation and response of vast residents. On Oct. 20, a panel of judges selected the top 30 concepts out of the 103 concepts through in-depth evaluation and voting, and the page view of the top 10 concepts voting website at www.sznews.com reached 256,815. In total, around 6,600 netizens participated in the voting as of Nov. 6.
The evaluation of the panel and was weighted equally with the online voting in the final results, and the results were released during the final council with the overlapping rate reaching 90 percent.
