- Capitol Hill's Hot Air Renders Smoking Difficult

Evidence has emerged that, contrary to popular belief, at least one legislature produces less hot air than is produced naturally outside: the US House of Representatives.
Perhaps the explanation is to be found in global warming.
Although plenty of House members smoke cigarettes on the balcony outside the Speaker's Lobby, smoking inside the ornate hallway is against the rules; so, when the odor of cigar smoke wafted through the lobby on Wednesday, a number of reporters went to investigate.
And, according to Christina Wilkie, writing in The Hill, the culprit was the Republican from Oklahoma, Tom Cole, who had stood inside the lobby to light a cigar before going out on to the balcony to enjoy it.
Asked about his decision to light up inside, Cole apparently said, "Even with all the hot air emanating from the House floor, it's still less windy in the Speaker's Lobby than it is outdoors".
Wednesday was apparently unusually warm, with winds blowing at about 10 to 20 mph.
